Welcome

What is the Gift of Love Poetry Program?
The program provides complementary (free) poetry CDs to people diagnosed with cancer as well as to cancer health care providers. As long as supplies are funded, Hospice, The American Cancer Society, alternative institutes for health and healing, and hospitals will receive CDs for themselves and their clients.

How did this program come about?
The Gift of Love Poetry program is the vision of Michele Rivers. Her experiences during her journey with cancer inspired this poetry CD and her commitment to give back to the cancer community.

Gift of Love News

The Poetry Reading and Fund Raiser Thursday • 23 July 2009

The Atrium Gallery at Marin Oncology in
Greenbrae, California was filled with poets, friends, laughter, music—and during the poetry reading—some tears.  Between poems Judith Tripp's  haunting flute and Rita Glassman's beautiful voice soared and filled the atrium. The auction was great fun and a huge success. We will now be able to send more poetry CDs out into the world.

"The Gift of Love event reminded all of us just how to live and love. It was a profoundly moving experience, the kind of sharing that can heal both body and spirit. I feel blessed to have shared in that evening." — LWM

"You could feel the love in the room." — MC

"When I heard the poem about the peach pie, that was it! Tears filled my eyes. It was beautiful. The poetry touched everyone deeply." — LR

The Gifts of Giving

“I believe that the very purpose of life is to be happy. From the very core of our being, we desire contentment. In my own limited experience, I have found that the more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being. Cultivating a close, warmhearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It helps remove whatever fears or insecurities we may have and gives us the strength to cope with any obstacles we encounter. It is the principal source of success in life.”
